When an adult loses his permanent teeth it’s not normal and there can be several reasons associated with it; it could be due to the decay or hereditary factor or due to traumatic injury.

 One of the most acute cause of tooth loss is gum diseases. Gum is the structure on which the teeth rest and if it gets infectious teeth loosen and fall out or have to be extracted in order to stop it spreading. Gum disease can be prevented by taking a good care of oral hygiene and having health food.

Eating Habits

There are a lot of foods which build cavities, especially the ones which have high level of carbohydrates. Dentist often refrain people from having huge quantities of sweet and sticky food like chocolates, sweets or fizzy drinks and starchy foods as they increase the risk of tooth decay by building more and more cavities. In all such cases once the tooth decay occurs with severe toothache and dentist has to be consulted immediately to take correct actions.

Poor Oral Hygiene

Oral hygiene is important otherwise permanent teeth can be lost forever. Brushing teeth at least twice a day is important otherwise it can cause tooth decay, cavity starts building up and even the bacteria collect together to cause tooth decay and leads to tooth replacement.

Smoking

Smoking is also bad for oral hygiene, the people who smoke often have pale colored or even damaged teeth which look dirty; tobacco is harmful for gums and teeth. Saliva in the mouth keeps the teeth clean; while smoking tobacco interferes in the production of saliva and reduces its outcome. Smoking is harmful for oral hygiene.
