These will block all foreign particles like dirt, rubble, splinters of wood and fibreglass from entering into the eyes. Safety glasses are the important yet the most basic safety equipment that should be put on while operating power tools.
2. Protection for the ears:
Professional power tools are generally noisy, and may produce louder sound when they are operated in closed workshop atmosphere. Earplugs help reducing the damages to the ears to a great extent. Hence, wearing earplugs is highly recommended.
3. Knowledge of appropriate tools for the job:
Awareness of the appropriate equipment and DIY hand tools for the job goes a long way in insuring safety to oneself and materials used. Therefore, carefully reading the instruction manual that comes along with the purchase of tools and familiarizing oneself with the suggest safeguards are highly recommended.
4. Correct procedure of operating the tools:
Avoid lifting the tools by their cords; tools that are not being used should be disconnected; fingers should be kept away from the on/off switch while handling the tool connected to a live power plug. One should not discount power tools’ electrical dangers.
5. Putting on the suitable clothes:
If hairs are long then they should be tied properly and loose clothes should not be worn. Preferably, one should put on full body clothes and thick gloves should be used to prevent pointed objects from injuring the hands. Masks stop dangerous small particles from entering the body via breathing. Boots having steel toes and hard hats are also good safety equipment.
6. Inspecting the tools:
Tools should not be used in damp conditions and under no conditions they should be dipped in water. Their electrical fittings like wiring, plugs and plug in should be checked at regular intervals. Electrical tapes can be used to cover the small cuts, but if the damage to the cord is severe, replace it! Broken tools or the ones that do not function properly should be examined and repaired.
